Club Racing
If you enjoy dinghy racing, Weston runs dinghy handicap racing, subject to tides, from February through to the end of the year. Southampton Water's double tide enables two or three races to be held per day, depending on the event. Racing adheres to the RYA Racing Charter.
Weston SC's Racing events can be found on the Calendar Page and are kept up to date as events are added/updated throughout the year so please review regularly!
The Racing Programme splits racing into the following main blocks of activity:
- Spring Series
- Summer Series
- Evening Series (including some weekend evenings)
- Autumn Series
- Winter Series
- Cup Weekends (2 days of racing) are monthly throughout the year
Races and discards are detailed in the event Sailing Instructions (SIs)
To keep the costs of club racing low when starting out, the Race Committee will not penalise replica kit being used by Lasers

WSC Fleets for 2025

WSC Fleets are split as below for Series and Cup Racing:
Fleet 1 - PY 969 and faster
- Excluding RS300
- RO will usually set a windward/leeward course
Fleet 2 - PY 970 and slower
- Including RS300
- RO will usually set a Trapezoid course
Race courses set, will usually be Windward/Leeward (Fleet 1), Trapezoidal, or Triangle (Fleet 2), at the request of Fleet Captains. Inflatable marks and some Southampton Water fixed marks will be used see: Printable PDF download of Racing Area
Club starts will be from a shore based race box using a transit and an outer distance inflatable mark.
Fleet starts may be combined by the Race Officer for WSC club racing and this will be advised on the course board below the Race Box balcony or shore side of Main Clubhouse

Weston has provided many National, European and World champion sailors over the years and an Annual Prize Giving is held providing prizes for all Handicap Fleets for each series as well as cup weekends.
