WSC Race Officer Training

Published 20:52 on 6 Mar 2025

Race Officer Training is planned for the 26th April, 10:00 to 16:00. As last year, Julius Mach will be running this and we have 10 places available. This is particularly aimed at people with racing experience who would like to be confident to undertake a Race Officer duty. Race Officers who need more confidence or a refresher are welcome to attend.

The aims of the course are to show where to find equipment, understand how to use it, and what we do differently from the standard RYA procedure. Much of this will be hands-on in the race box. That is the first part of the course. The second part is a question and answer session relating to the free RYA online training course, which should be viewed (preferably) beforehand, but could be viewed afterwards, and a discussion on course setting. Although the course is shown as running from 10:00 to 16:00, it may finish earlier if there are not many questions. There will be a break for lunch.

Please book your place via the Race Officer Training event in the Club calendar and click the green button to volunteer: link here. The free RYA online training course may be viewed here.

WSC is run by volunteers for the benefit of members and paying visitors. The sailing program won't happen without having sufficient Race Officers to run our racing. We therefore do hope that this training is of interest.
